The 2009 Inspirational Country Music New Artist of Year is coming to Heights Church this Friday.
Steve Richard is the 2009 Inspirational Country Music New Artist of the Year, and he's coming to the Heights Church this Friday, April 20.
Richard has been on a diverse musical journey, performing with rock groups such as Lynyrd Skynyrd, ZZ Top and Dickey Betts. He's also performed with country artists such as Dierks Bentley, Montgomery Gentry, and Craig Morgan.
Richard has released two albums, "Steve Richard" in 2008, and "Up to Somethin'" in 2010. The song, "Stomp" from his first album was responsible for igniting a line dance craze and even became an interactive video game. "Bridge Back Home" became a national wrestling anthem.
Richard lives in St. Louis, MO with wife Rachelle and his daughter, Marion. Dedicated to giving back to the community, his Goodwill Radio Tour raised money for local and national non-profits, such as toys for Tots, the National Cancer Society and the Salvation Army.
According to his website bio page, Richard said he never planned to be a Christian artist. But, a variety of hits, such as Invisible Hand, Eighty Acre Church, and Make it Into Heaven (which won him a nomination for the Song of the Year at the 2009 Inspirational Country Music Awards) appealed to Christian audiences.
"The positive response we're getting is exciting and gratifying," he says. "I realized a long time ago that the most important thing a songwriter or singer can do is reach people. I'm very grateful to be connecting with so many people, and I'm excited to be carrying that forward."
The Reclaiming Hope Tour is a wonderful mix of Steve’s music and his testimony of how he overcame his own addiction through Christ.
